Recipe for Faythe House Brown Bread served at Breakfast
1 Loaf Brown Bread
1 1/2 Cups Brown Flour
1 1/4 Cups White Flour
1 Teaspoon Heaped Bread Soda
1 Level Teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Pinhead Oat Meal
1 Tablespoon Wheat Germ
1 Tablespoon Oat Bran
1 Tablespoon Oil
1 Tablespoons Honey (Optional)
330 mils Butter Milk
Cook 40 Mins 175’c
Recipe for Faythe House Tea Brack
1 Loaf Tea Brack
225g / 8oz Odlums Self Raising Flour
375g Packet of Fruit Mix
300ml / 1/2 Pint Cold Tea
125g / 4oz Caster Sugar
1 Egg (Beaten)
Good Pinch Mixed Spice
Method:
1. Place fruit and tea in bowl and leave to soak overnight.
2. Add sugar, egg, flour and mixed spice and mix well.
3. Transfer to a greased and base lined 900g/2lb loaf tin or a 20cm/8″ round cake tin.
4. Bake in a pre-heated oven 170°C/325°F/Gas 3 for approx. one hour or until risen and firm to the touch.
5. Cool on a wire tray. When cold wrap in greaseproof paper and keep for two days before cutting.
